Senior Scientist, Data Science

The Senior Scientist will focus on drug target identification in the Neuroscience therapeutic area, analyzing large-scale genomics data to enhance research capabilities and drive data-driven drug discovery.

Responsibilities

Identify genetically-driven therapeutic targets leveraging a wealth of biobank scale data such as genetics, proteomics and other omics data modalities
Precision stratification of patients and characterize genomic manifestations of disease subtypes using a wide variety of large-scale biological data and computational methods
On-target toxicity/liability assessment of neuroscience-related target genes using omics data and network-based models
Conceive, develop, and implement analytical solutions to high-priority scientific projects
Continuous engagement and participation with scientists across JnJ to foster scientific collaborations and building a carrier network
Analyze the large-scale genetics, proteomics, and other omics data modalities using the advances statistical and computational methods
Publish findings in top-tier journals and conferences

Required

A Ph.D. in a quantitative field – Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Statistical Genetics, Computer Science, or related fields
2-3 years of postgraduate scientific experience
A strong publication record in the relevant areas is required
Proficient in programming languages such as R/Python, bash, SQL, etc
Experience with multi-omics data integration, especially network analysis
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to effectively communicate technical findings with stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

Experience/knowledge of psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is a plus
Experience with bulk/single-cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics is preferred
