Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Division Dean and in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Department Coordinator, teach early childhood education and child development classes
Assist in curriculum development
Work with outside organizations and community groups to ensure currency of curriculum and support for the Early Childhood Education program
Engage in a continuing program of personal professional development
Assist in promoting the Early Childhood Education program in the community
The instructor may consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours
The assignment may include day, evening and Saturday classes

Qualification

Child DevelopmentEarly Childhood EducationCurriculum DevelopmentTeaching ExperienceCollaboration with AgenciesCultural CompetenceFluency in Second LanguageComputer-Based Technology

Required

Master's or above in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's or above in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies OR the equivalent
Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice both within and outside of the classroom
Knowledge of and expertise in the areas of Child Development / Early Childhood Education
Experience in both academic and community settings
Curriculum development
Recent teaching experience or preparation to teach
Work and collaboration with outside agencies and organizations
Familiarity with and willingness to expand the use of computer-based technology appropriate to the subject areas of the assignment

Preferred

Fluency in a second language
