Responsibilities

Reviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made

Adjusts saw for required cuts

Adjusts speed of saw and feed rolls

Observes automatic feeding of lumber to saw or pushes end of lumber into feed rolls

Stacks cut lumber after processing

Advises supervisor of dull saw blades

Other duties as assigned

Required

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers

Ability to print and speak simple sentences

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's

Ability to read a tape measure at 1/16 inch

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions

Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables

Must be able to identify species, size, and grade of lumber

Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms

Occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear

Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions

Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
