The University of Virginia is seeking candidates for a tenure-ineligible research assistant professor position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Responsibilities
Conduct research, scholarship, and service to the department, university, and professional community
Establish an innovative research program that builds upon existing strengths at the University of Virginia in superconducting devices and materials and terahertz technology
Engage collaboratively with faculty and scientists at UVA and beyond
Generate proposals and promote scholarship
Engage in service and mentor students to support a growing program
Engage in ongoing projects with The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) and the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC)
Use and support state-of-the-art experimental facilities to grow research efforts
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Postdoctoral experience or equivalent
Strong record of an innovative research program in this area
Track record of participation in funded research
Demonstrate an aptitude and commitment to mentoring at the graduate level
Preferred
Expertise in microfabrication including an extensive background in thin film deposition and characterization
Experience with cryogenics
Experience with submillimeter-wave device/circuit modeling, metrology and characterization
Experience with superconducting insulating superconducting (SIS) junctions
Experience with Traveling-Wave Kinetic Inductance Parametric amplifiers
Experience with Schottky barrier diodes
