Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join their team as a Patient Monitoring Technician. The role involves observing and reporting on patient behaviors to ensure safety and promote positive patient experiences, while collaborating with healthcare staff and documenting necessary information.

Responsibilities

Observe and report high risk behaviors that may interrupt medically necessary therapies as well as patient safety and/or perceived changes in the patient’s condition to appropriate health care team members

Document the observed behaviors and need for redirection

Function under the direction of the Program Manager and/or Team Coordinator

Promote positive patient experience by partnering with the patient’s family, and other care providers to provide an excellent patient experience

Review pertinent information and behaviors

Provide patients with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions or judgment

Provide on site staff with information in a timely fashion when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others

Participate in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues

Assure patient environment is safe

Seek assistance with removal of any potential safety hazards from room and report findings to the appropriate staff members

Maintain patient dignity and privacy

Work collaboratively and professionally with all other healthcare staff and providers, patient, patient’s family members to ensure an excellent patient experience

Document in patient EMR at a regular cadence per department policies/procedures

High school diploma or equivalent
