Responsibilities

Develop 3D visualization and computation software for (a) efficient modeling and inversion of well logs acquired along arbitrary well trajectories, (b) in-well and inter-well formation evaluation, and (c) multi-core and parallel processing algorithms
Develop multi-well, formation-dependent, interpretation methods using fast modeling and inversion utilities for high-resolution formation evaluation along arbitrary well trajectories
Collaborate and integrate software developments with the formation evaluation software development team, students, and industry sponsors
Prepares proposals to potential funding sponsors and acts as a liaison between them and the research unit
Performs other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Petrophysics, Geophysics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field plus eight (8) years of related experience
Demonstrated programming expertise in MATLAB and/or Python (object-oriented design, numerical methods, scientific visualization)
Prior experience in scientific computing or within the subsurface resources industry
Strong desire to learn and broaden expertise across multiple areas of formation evaluation, subsurface modeling, software development, and user interface design
Excellent communicator, both in written and oral form
Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with people from different institutions

Preferred

Experience with compiled programming languages and their compilation tools in different environments. (C++, Fortran, ...)
Experience with parallel computing, cloud deployment, and network license managers (FlexLM, RLM, etc.)
Strong background in petrophysical principles and well logging methods (resistivity, NMR, sonic, density/neutron)
Knowledge of version control (Git), continuous integration, and collaborative software development
Exposure to open-source geoscience libraries or prior industry software development
