Research Engineering/Scientist Assistant
The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Research Engineering/Scientist Assistant in the Department of Pediatrics. This position supports the Ekker program and focuses on advancing gene editing research efforts through collaboration, data analysis, and laboratory maintenance.

Responsibilities
Collaborate effectively with other members of the research team, actively participating in lab meetings and discussions. Present research progress and findings in regular lab meetings and potentially at scientific conferences
Accurately record experimental data and assist in data analysis using various software tools and statistical methods. Collaborate with other Ekker lab researchers including students to interpret and present findings effectively
Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and instruments and assist with inventory management of laboratory supplies
Perform a range of experimental molecular, gene editing and genomics techniques and procedures related to mitochondrial biology and metabolism. This includes but is not limited to tissue sample preparation, cell culture, molecular biology assays, and microscopy. Support the maintenance of zebrafish strains
Other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a scientific, engineering or technical field or a graduate of the ACC biotechnology program Associate of Applied Science Degree
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
Preferred
Prior experience with cell culture especially iPSCs or ES cells

Retirement Plan Eligibility: The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
