ASD Engineering Technologist 1/2
Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. The ASD Project needs an engineering technologist to help construct several parts of a linear induction electron accelerator, coordinating efforts with various teams and ensuring quality assurance throughout the assembly process.
Security
Responsibilities
Fabrication, assembly and testing of accelerator and downstream region components
Work closely with Production Engineer on work associated with assembly
Work various teams and deployed safety people
Ensure components have been inspected and staged ready for use
Ensure quality assurance (SD330) and 413.3B project requirements
Look for opportunities to enhance the assembly
Work with the technical team to coordinate opportunities and efficiencies between the subsystems for Scorpius
Provide maintenance support for major personnel and equipment
Work closely with technicians and engineers from our own and other maintenance support teams across the facility
Interact and collaborate effectively with internal and external colleagues at the team, group, division, and laboratory levels
Complete all training in a reasonable time
Qualification
Required
Basic understanding of drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience assembling and disassembling parts from drawings and procedures
Familiarity with common lab test equipment: digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as function independently on individual assignments
Ability to use standard shop tools such as drills, saws, punches
The ability to obtain forklift and crane certification
Working Knowledge of drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Working knowledge of SolidWorks, CREO to design and fabricate components
Intermediate experience assembling and disassembling parts from drawings and procedures
Working knowledge of common lab test equipment: digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc
Be familiar with vacuum systems, KF, CF, roughing pumps and turbomolecular pumps
Swagelok, plumbing NPT for PVC Pipe Fitting, ANSI and Metric threads
Position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, Science, Math or related degree and 2 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering technology, Science, Math or related degree and 5 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
Preferred
Current forklift and crane certification
Experience working with drawing and procedures
Understanding disciplined operations
Knowledge of accelerator systems and components
