Responsibilities

Conducts inspections; evaluates facilities and operations for effectiveness of the maintenance of a safe workplace; evaluates ergonomic conditions and unsafe practices to minimize risk; identifies hazardous problems and materials; monitors workplaces for compliance with established local, state and federal safety regulations, policies and procedures; and prepares technical reports with recommendations for corrective actions to alleviate and minimize hazards

Conducts safety training courses including defensive driving, CPR/first aid, safety and loss prevention, basic safety training for new employee orientation, back safety, personal protective equipment, hazardous material handling, confined spaces, etc.; develops safety training presentation and safety manuals; ensures employee compliance with safety regulations, policies and procedures; and ensures employees are trained in proper usage of safety equipment

Provides wellness program information; educates employees regarding available services and programs; analyzes health programs and policies; and evaluates programs and policies for performance, effectiveness, and cost reduction and makes recommendations regarding program improvement and policy changes

Conducts audits; reviews accident and compliance investigations; analyzes and evaluates data; and develops and implements plans to reduce or eliminate injuries, illness, or loss of property

Attends and facilitates meetings; attends Requests for Proposal submittals and committee meetings; acts as a liaison to health program vendors; conducts safety and loss prevention meetings; and makes recommendations and provides feedback regarding wellness and safety related issues
