Senior Director of Accounting
Chisholm Consulting, LLC is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Senior Director of Accounting to manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This role includes overseeing financial functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing best practices for financial integrity and budgeting.
Responsibilities
Oversee the timely and accurate execution of the monthly closing process; to include checklists and timetable(s)
Ensure all bank and investment accounts are recognized on a timely basis
Direct and oversee the payroll function, including employee system setup, labor allocation, payroll tax liabilities, employee direct deposit modifications, benefits contribution processing, and submission, leave report and leave balances, time reporting corrections, salary tracking, staff schedules, HR data modifications, salary advances, termination checks, calculation of final pay amounts, vacation accrual liability, year-end vacation balance carry overs
Oversee fixed asset schedules, depreciation entries, fringe and paid leave allocations, prepaid assets accounts, recurring lease and rent entries
Oversee the timely production, review, and distribution of monthly financial reports (Cashflow, P&L, budget vs actual, portfolio reporting, funder financial statement reports, organizational, treasurer’s, executive team, bank account reconciliation report, labor allocation report, burn rate calculation) as well as monthly reports on projects to departmental managers and senior management
Direct and prepare for financial audits; recommend procedural improvements
Assist the CFAO in implementing and maintaining a strong system of internal controls
Manage a team of four and evaluate the performance of personnel assigned to the Accounting department
Prepare, conduct or oversee regular trainings organization-wide around procedures and requirements pertaining to employee reimbursement, corporate credit card usage, payroll, time and attendance, onboarding, and related systems
Qualification
Required
BA in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
Minimum 7 years of professional accounting experience required
At least 4 years' experience in nonprofit organizations and 4 years in a supervisory position required
Proficient use or experience with of Sage Intacct, Concur, ADP, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office products
Superior ability to analyze financial data, prepare financial reports and statements, and develop projections; ability to leverage software/technology to support preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and other accounting documents
Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
Supervisory experience required
Proficient with in Sage Intacct & Excel and a variety of other systems that support accounting and finance functions
Preferred
MA or CPA highly preferred
Finance/accounting experience with a non-profit organization, preferably a 501(c)(3)with an OMB A-133 audit
