Academic Program Coordinator, School of Civic Leadership

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator for the School of Civic Leadership, which focuses on studying foundational ideas and institutions of a free society. The coordinator will support academic affairs, manage student services initiatives, and provide advising to students throughout their academic journey.

Responsibilities

Support the Academic Affairs office in developing, coordinating, and implementing student services initiatives (e.g., Degree Audit (IDA) system, Degree Certification, Orientation, Graduation). Maintain accurate informational materials and online resources for student programs and services. Oversee the SCL Scholarship process through the LASSO platform, including communications, disbursement, data collection, reporting, and assessment for continuous improvement
Serve as a liaison with degree auditors and campus partners (ROTC, Plan II, JSP, etc.) to support student progress, degree certification, and related academic processes
Provide comprehensive academic advising to SCL undergraduates from admission through graduation, including degree planning, course selection, and minor and certificate exploration. Support students on academic warning or experiencing challenges by offering guidance, interventions, and referrals to campus resources
Advise prospective and transfer students and assist with orientation and transition to the university
Represent SCL Student Services at orientations, recruitment, commencement, and other university events in collaboration with students, families, faculty, and staff
Participate in university committees, events, and initiatives that promote student success, retention, and community connection
Assist with administrative processes related to student records, degree certification, and program logistics
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience working with college students in an advising or counseling capacity
Professional demeanor; strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

Preferred

Master's degree and four (4) years of experience in higher education, student affairs, liberal arts, or communications
Experience working with high school or college-aged students
Knowledge of UT Austin undergraduate processes and systems (Mainframe, IDA, Advisors Toolkit, EASI, UT Course Scheduling, Canvas, EAB Navigate360)
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex, deadline-driven programs
Experience with University of Texas policies, procedures, and administrative systems related to job functions
