Senior Test Technician (Mechanical)
Aetherflux is addressing the global energy crisis by developing space-based solar energy infrastructure. The Senior Test Technician (Mechanical) is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining satellite components, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards prior to launch.
Responsibilities
Perform component, subsystem, and system-level testing, including electrical performance, mechanical fit-checks, and RF testing using specialized equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters)
Operate environmental test chambers for vibration, thermal, and vacuum testing to simulate launch and space conditions
Diagnose and resolve technical issues or failures in test equipment and satellite components, often collaborating with engineers
Construct and modify wiring harnesses, mechanical support equipment, and test fixtures from schematics, drawings, and technical documents
Accurately document all test procedures, results, repairs, and service calls, and prepare reports for engineers and project managers
Perform preventative maintenance and ensure the calibration of test equipment and tools, such as torque wrenches and precision instruments
Strictly follow safety protocols and industry standards when working with electrical components, at heights, and using power tools
Qualification
Required
A high school diploma or GED is typically required
5+ years of experience as a Test Technician
Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical systems integration, testing, and troubleshooting, and working with equipment such as oscilloscopes
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and potentially customers
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment
A strong commitment to safety protocols
Preferred
An Associate's degree or vocational training in automotive, electronics, telecommunications, or a related engineering field highly preferred
Experience with programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, LabVIEW) for test automation is a plus
