Mechanical Engineering Intern

Responsibilities
Learning Howmet’s EHS systems and applying them to the manufacturing plant floor to improve safety and overall working conditions of the employees
Observing the plant’s operations in a specific assigned area, and working with a senior member of the engineering staff as a mentor to complete assigned tasks
Attending daily management meetings representing the engineering department with project updates and/or receiving new jobs
Investigate, design, engineer, justify and implement improvement activities
Using AutoCAD or SolidWorks, complete drawing updates
Providing engineering innovations that will increase reliability and availability of the plant facilities
Working closely with Production, Planning, and other departments (Purchasing, Maintenance, or outside vendors) to plan work activities
Performing root cause analysis with the goal to eliminate maintenance downtime
Continuing to learn the craft of electrical engineering (project and reliability engineering)
Qualification
Required
Student must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
