Responsibilities

Serve as the City's technical expert in the traffic engineering field
Oversee administrative, technical, planning, and design work while ensuring contract compliance with specifications and engineering standards
Address a variety of transportation issues, such as bicycle and automobile integration, the use of bike routes, alternative modes of transportation, traffic volume reduction techniques, traffic calming techniques, and intergovernmental jurisdictional conflicts

Required

Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil or traffic engineering
Five years of increasingly responsible professional traffic engineering experience
Three years of experience at a level equivalent to the Associate Transportation Engineer class
Possession of a valid California Registration as a professional Traffic Engineer or professional Civil Engineer
Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities
Maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record when driving on City business
