Operations Engineer, Mechlite Automation Core

Amazon is seeking an Automation Operations Engineer to support the Amazon Logistics North America Core Operations Engineering team. The individual will be responsible for designing and managing delivery station processes, equipment, and operations, while leading initiatives and complex cross-functional projects in ambiguous problem spaces.

Responsibilities

Integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency
Participate in the full system development life-cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs
Manage multiple high-visibility projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, integrators, and vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective automation solutions in support of business objectives
Define projects (scope, delivery, and budget), set objectives, analyze data, drive improvements to metrics, and influence resource allocation
Deep dive technical solutions that encompass advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware selection, automation integration, and vendor commissioning content and expectations
Lead and coordinate design and execution efforts between internal teams and outside vendors including equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout
Lead and actively participate in design reviews and communicate future impacts of proposed solutions on an individual system and on the overall facility processes
Build relationships with partner organizations within the company such as Start-up, Design team, Procurement, Tech, Safety, Change Management, RME and Operations
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives in support of operations teams
Develop cross-functional knowledge of Operations and Engineering team systems, processes, procedures, and tools

Required

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field
3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Project Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, or related occupation
Experience managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems
Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)

Preferred

Master's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Operations, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related STEM field
Design and/or implementation experience with integrated automation solutions, such as complex material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines
Operations Management/Distribution Center experience
Experience in e-commerce customer fulfillment
Certified OE Black Belt, Green Belt or Lean Sensei, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation/logistics and/or fulfillment/distribution centers
Experience in running SQL queries and data mining
Knowledge to manage, influence, negotiate, and communicate with external business partners and internal teams to meet organizational capacity needs
Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)
Written, verbal and interpersonal skills
