Responsibilities

Provide strategic direction for a broad portfolio of programs supporting students with diverse needs, including: special education; Section 504; English Language Learners; Talented & Gifted Education; Indian Education; Positive Behavior Support; alternative education; drug and alcohol prevention/intervention; and services for students in detention or correctional programs
Design a system for all student interventions so that each of our students can realize their greatest potential
Lead with heart, clarity and a systems-level perspective
Build strong partnerships, effective programs and equitable outcomes for students
Guide and support a wide range of specialized teams, from school psychologists and evaluation specialists to case managers and behavior support staff
Shape district systems, strengthen compliance and procedures, manage multiple state and federal grants, and ensure that every student receives the support they need to access the general education curriculum and thrive in their educational experience

Required

Leadership experience in special education administration
Commitment to inclusive practices
Ability to guide and support a wide range of specialized teams, including school psychologists, evaluation specialists, case managers, and behavior support staff
Deep knowledge of federal law
Ability to communicate consistently and clearly across departments
Talent for building relationships with principals, families, and community partners
Experience in shaping district systems
Experience in strengthening compliance and procedures
Experience in managing multiple state and federal grants
