Responsibilities

Assist with the implementation of fish population monitoring throughout the park
Serve on a field crew conducting backpack electrofishing surveys in mountain stream habitats
Capture, identify, measure, weigh, and release fish during monitoring surveys
Assist with all aspects of the monitoring protocol including netting fish, fish identification, measuring stream habitat, aquatic macroinvertebrate monitoring, and collecting information on water quality and quantity
Perform data entry and summaries using standardized software
Maintain and repair equipment as assistant crew lead

Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males

Driver's License: You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required
Ability to lift and carry materials/loads up to 50 pounds
Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: conducting fisheries, animal or plant inventory and monitoring work, and that demonstrates knowledge of fisheries, animal or plant inventory and monitoring techniques and included performing duties such as conducting environmental monitoring and management activities related to fishery and/or wildlife by making field observations, conducting surveys, and recording and entering data into databases. You must include hours per week worked
To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service. This experience MUST HAVE BEEN in the Biological Technician field in the specialization of fisheries
