They are seeking a Business Development Director to lead new business growth for their Real-World Insights programs, focusing on identifying and winning new business opportunities and building strong relationships with pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

Responsibilities
Identify and qualify new business opportunities among pharma/biotech companies needing real-world evidence, medical writing, publication planning, medical affairs support, or full-service med-comms
Client engagement & relationship building: cultivate relationships with key decision-makers understand their needs, and position the agency’s services accordingly
Proposal development & pitching: lead development of tailored proposals, RFP responses and pitch presentations for real-world insights
Strategic planning: contribute to the agency’s business-development strategy by tracking market trends, analyzing the competitive landscape, and identifying whitespace opportunities — especially in real-world evidence/ real-world insights space
Cross-functional collaboration: work with scientific strategy, medical-writing, creative, publications, and account teams to ensure proposals and delivery align with client needs and agency capabilities
Qualification
Required
Extensive experience in business development roles within medical communications, healthcare communications, pharmaceutical communications agency
Experience in client-facing and opinion leader-facing roles, pharma sponsored HCP engagements is essential, previous experience with CME and/or third-party medical insight gathering preferred
Demonstrable track record of generating new business, leading pitches / RFPs, building long-term client relationships and meeting or exceeding revenue targets
Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills, able to engage senior client stakeholders
Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen able to understand market trends, client needs, competitive environment, and translate them into opportunity
Scientific literacy or familiarity with life-sciences / healthcare (therapeutic areas, clinical development, medical affairs)
Preferred
Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MPH, MS, PharmD) strongly preferred
