Application Development Engineer - Packaging
EMS-Chemie is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of polymers and other chemicals, with a focus on polyamides used in various applications. They are seeking an Application Development Engineer - Packaging to support customers and the sales team in North America, collaborating on packaging projects and ensuring the deployment of advanced polyamides in the industry.
Responsibilities
Support our Sales colleagues in executing customer projects related to packaging applications
Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide appropriate technical solutions
Monitor and report on industry trends, competitor applications and relevant patents within the packaging landscape
Facilitate responses to technical inquiries from customers and internal teams, ensuring thorough and accurate information
Promote the use of specialty polyamides for packaging applications, including solutions for metal replacement
Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for Sales teams, distributors and customers focused on packaging products and processing techniques
Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing our sales and application development team’s technical capabilities based on packaging market requirements
Assist in resolving product quality issues related to packaging and contribute to team knowledge-sharing discussions
Maintain appropriate documentation and prepare visit reports for ongoing packaging projects
Provide timely and effective technical support for packaging-related projects and Sales inquiries
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement specialty polyamides into packaging applications
Prepare and deliver technical presentations and proposals to packaging customers
Conduct feasibility studies and support development projects in packaging applications
Achieve individual performance objectives set annually
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in packaging development or application development related to engineering plastics in the packaging sector
Familiarity with packaging regulations and standards
Proven track record in product development or technical support within the packaging industry
Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information effectively to various audiences
Willingness to travel as needed to engage with customers, business partners, industry associations, conferences and fairs
