Project Development Engineer
Storm4 is a recognized leader in delivering high-performance energy infrastructure and decarbonization projects. As a Project Development Engineer, you will serve as the technical partner to the Business Development team, engaging with clients to develop conceptual engineering pathways that inform proposal development.
Responsibilities
Attend client meetings with BD Managers as the technical subject-matter expert
Ask targeted questions to uncover hidden requirements and clarify ambiguous information
Conduct site visits, system reviews, and high-level energy or infrastructure assessments
Translate client needs into feasible conceptual engineering solutions
Develop early-stage technical pathways and solution concepts for energy retrofit and infrastructure modernization projects
Collaborate with internal design engineers to hand off conceptual requirements
Support the creation of proposals, scopes of work, and preliminary project documentation
Work closely with BD, engineering, project teams, and leadership to align technical strategy with client objectives
Provide technical insight during internal reviews and opportunity qualification discussions
Represent engineering in early client conversations and demonstrations
Communicate complex technical ideas in a clear, client-friendly manner
Help strengthen long-term customer relationships by acting as a trusted technical advisor
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Environmental, or Energy Engineering (or related field)
3–8+ years of experience in energy systems, infrastructure, HVAC, or retrofit projects
Background in design engineering, application engineering, presales engineering, or energy audits
Strong conceptual thinker; enjoys problem-solving with incomplete information
Excellent communication skills and comfort in client-facing environments
Ability to connect technical opportunities with business drivers
Preferred
Experience with manufacturers, engineering firms, or construction environments is a plus
