Analog Circuit Design Engineer
Babich & Associates is seeking an Analog Circuit Design Engineer to join their hardware development team. This role is responsible for hands-on design and validation of electronics used in safety-critical aerospace applications, leading projects from initial concept through production release.
Responsibilities
Architect, design, and analyze analog and mixed-signal circuits for aerospace-grade electronic assemblies, ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, verification, and qualification standards
Drive the full development cycle—from concept definition, schematic creation, and design reviews through verification, documentation, and handoff to manufacturing
Produce all required design artifacts including schematics, PCB layout data packages, bills of materials, and fabrication/assembly documentation using professional CAD/EDA tools
Oversee external PCB fabrication partners, including rigid and flexible board technologies, to ensure quality and manufacturability
Apply circuit modeling and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE-based platforms) to analyze and validate analog performance
Support test system development and verification activities using common programming languages (Assembler, C/C++, Python, LabVIEW)
Generate technical documentation in accordance with internal quality and development processes, such as design requirements, verification procedures, qualification reports, and change records
Provide ongoing engineering support for both new designs and legacy hardware
Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary peers, including embedded software and mechanical design engineers, to ensure system-level integration and performance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline
At least 5 years of experience specifically in analog circuit design, simulation, troubleshooting, and validation within products that incorporate embedded electronics or microcontroller-based architectures
Proficiency using laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal or function generators, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, and electronic loads
Experience with professional CAD/EDA platforms (e.g., ORCAD, KiCAD, AutoCAD)
Working knowledge of common digital communication interfaces (Ethernet, RS-232, RS-485, CAN, ARINC-style buses)
Strong ability to interpret and explain datasheets, component specifications, and system requirements
Effective communication skills and the initiative to independently expand technical competencies
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational habits and the ability to meet schedule commitments
Must be able to successfully complete background screening and drug testing
Preferred
Familiarity with aerospace and defense hardware development standards (e.g., DO-254, DO-160, DO-178C, MIL-STD-461)
Understanding of hardware design assurance (DAL A/B/C) processes under relevant airborne electronics guidelines
Experience with automated test development using Python, C/C#, LabVIEW, or TestStand
Background in EMI/EMC troubleshooting and compliance resolution
Prior work in avionics, transportation electronics, or other regulated hardware environments
