Principal Optical Coherent Systems Architect

Nokia is seeking a Coherent Optical System Architect to join our Optical Systems Group (OSG). The role involves developing coherent MODEMs and working closely with various teams to optimize system performance through performance characterization and tradeoff analysis.

Responsibilities

Contributing to the development of leading coherent MODEMs based on Infinera's next-generation coherent photonic integrated circuits (PICs)
Working with early prototype hardware to get an initial look at product performance and provide rapid feedback to the PIC and high-speed analog ASIC teams
Performance characterization including MODEM SNR, OSNR tolerance, systematic breakdown of the MODEM impairment penalties, sensitivity studies and model alignment
Interacting frequently with the coherent ASIC team on coherent signal processing issues and ADC/DAC ENOB, with optical, high-speed analog ASIC, and systems engineering teams
Understanding and making tradeoffs between optical, electrical, and digital capabilities to optimize the overall system performance

Required

Doctor's degree (e.g PhD)
Experience in developing coherent MODEMs based on photonic integrated circuits (PICs)
Ability to work with early prototype hardware
Experience in performance characterization including MODEM SNR, OSNR tolerance, and systematic breakdown of MODEM impairment penalties
Experience in sensitivity studies and model alignment
Ability to collaborate with coherent ASIC team on coherent signal processing issues
Knowledge of ADC/DAC ENOB
Experience working with optical, high-speed analog ASIC, and systems engineering teams
Ability to understand and make tradeoffs between optical, electrical, and digital capabilities to optimize overall system performance
