Portfolio Management Officer II
Amerant Bank is seeking a Portfolio Management Officer II to assist in maintaining credit quality and monitoring the assigned loan portfolio. The role involves providing support to Relationship Managers and ensuring adherence to credit policies while managing various portfolio-related tasks.

Responsibilities
Provide transactional support assisting Relationship Managers (RMs) with evaluating their viability and consistency with the Bank credit risk cultures. Activities include initial financial statement analysis, background checks, and identifying potential credit policy exceptions
Assist RMs with the creation of proposals, term sheets, and presentations for deal-screening process
Maintain clear understanding of the Bank’s credit programs and policy and its adherence
Assist RMs in collaborating with other bank units such as Credit Administration, Loan Operations, Credit Services, Processing Unit, and Credit Risk to streamline processes and maintain accuracy of reports and credit quality of the portfolio. Reports to supervisor all deviation from credit programs and policy
Assist RMs in obtaining documentation to ensure conformity to credit underwriting policy of the bank. Gather, organize and send transactional information to the underwriting team. Work closely with Underwriting to gather any other additional information as required in an expeditious manner
Assist the RMs in ensuring that covenant tests and annual reviews are performed in a timely manner, including gathering the financial information required for existing credit relationships. Evaluate compliance with covenant test including assessment of potential risk rating changes (up or down) as deemed appropriate and raise any red flags in cases where deterioration of conditions is present
Responsible for the administration and monitoring maturities, delinquencies, including criticized assets reports. Reports to supervisor all portfolio issues and irregularities found in these reports and follow up to ensure actions are taken to address them
Conduct project site visits/inspections and report findings
Provide assistance in other areas within the department, as required, covering during vacation or absenteeism
Ensure preventive measures are carried out to fully comply with current rules, regulations and internal policies relating to risks pertaining to BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and other AML related issues
Assist management with ongoing projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or finance required
3+ years of commercial & retail portfolio management experience in lieu of education
Formal credit training required
5+ years of professional experience in lending and/or portfolio management field and/or credit analysis
Knowledgeable of banking products and documentation
Thorough understanding of the Bank's credit procedures, programs and policy
Accounting and credit principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required
Sound time management and organizational skills required
Well organized and systematic
Must possess strong communication skills
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
Experience in SQL is a plus
Salesforce, nCino, FIS IBS experience is a plus
