PremiStar is seeking a Controls Engineer/Programmer to focus on programming automatic climate control systems. The role involves designing system architecture, programming BAS controllers, and providing technical support to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

Design building automation system architecture, including control panel layouts and network diagrams

Develop sequences of operation, control logic, and point lists based on project specifications

Select and specify BAS components such as controllers, sensors, actuators, and network devices

Program BAS controllers (DDC)

Develop and modify control sequences for HVAC, lighting, and energy management

Perform functional testing and point-to-point verification of control systems

Troubleshoot and resolve programming, communication, and hardware issues

Work closely with technicians, project managers, and contractors to ensure successful project execution

Provide technical support to field technicians during installation and commissioning

Follow OSHA and company safety protocols when working on job sites

Diagnose and repair the most complex and advanced HVAC systems with minimal support

Deep understanding of HVAC system design, theory, experience with HVAC systems, including AHUs, VAVs, chillers, and boilers

Integrate BAS with third-party systems using BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, or other protocols

Experience in energy management, including energy audits and implementation of energy-saving strategies

Expert-level knowledge in refrigeration cycle troubleshooting, system retrofits, and advanced refrigerant management

Mentor senior technicians, guide the technical team, and lead complex projects

Manage high-level client relationships, including presenting and recommending solutions to organizations

Oversee large projects, ensuring the successful design, installation, commissioning, and operation of complex BAS systems

Required

At least 5 years of experience with BAS controls platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Trane, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, or Distech

At least 3 years of experience in developing, building, testing, and commissioning complete building controls systems including the graphical interface, from the ground up

Working knowledge of the installation, operation, and repair of commercial HVAC and control equipment

Working knowledge of electrical circuits and systems

High school diploma or GED

Tridium Niagara 4 Certification
