Senior Power Systems Consultant
Siemens is a global technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare. They are looking for a Senior Power Systems Consultant to join their Grid Software’s Power Technologies International team, where the role involves planning and integrating renewables, storage, and FACTS to the electrical grid, and performing large-scale simulations for clients.
Responsibilities
Perform transmission planning through the application of power systems planning principles to simulate and analyze the power system steady state and dynamic behavior
Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations
Work in small project teams, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and projects are completed within budget and schedule
Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis
Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines
Deliver on-site technical consulting/training services
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the electric power industry (beyond academia: professional power systems work at a consulting firm, utility, national lab, ISO, RTO, etc.)
Candidate must have knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using PSS®E, TARA, or TSAT in Transmission system planning and/or operations experience in MISO or SPP footprints—or PSCAD analysis experience in these or other regions (system-wide analysis preferred)
Ability to travel 10% domestically
Preferred
Prior experience in Power System Consulting
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems
