Ingenuity Prep is a school dedicated to preparing PreK to 8th grade students in Ward 8 for success in college and beyond. They are seeking a Middle School Math Teacher who is passionate about math and civic leadership, and who will lead math instruction for 5th-8th grade students while fostering a collaborative and supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

Build meaningful relationships with your students

Lead math instruction for 5th-8th grade students, from planning to executing engaging and rigorous lessons

Lead instruction for one elective course, with a focus on preparing students to understand coding and technology

Create a joyful, efficient, learning-focused classroom experience for students that leads to exemplary student growth -- both in academic achievement and in leadership skills

Collaborate with and support colleagues in the classroom as you build and refine a new middle school program and through weekly professional development opportunities

Provide emotional constancy and support for your students -- and your colleagues

Communicate and work closely with students’ families

Utilize Teach Like a Champion teaching techniques to ensure that effective teaching practices are promoted in the learning environment

Receive regular, individualized coaching from IP’s instructional leadership team to grow your practice

Required

Passion for math

Bachelor's Degree

Experience building strong relationships with students and partnering with families as part of a plan for student success

Preferred

Experience and/or desire to serve as a lead middle school teacher in a low-income school

Some knowledge of coding

Desire to work closely with peers in a collaborative teaching setting

Eager to grow practice through individual coaching and professional development opportunities

History of effectively using academic data to drive whole-group and small-group instruction

Belief that effective instruction is full of joy and rigor

Track record of holding high expectations for self and students
