Responsibilities
Ensure team members know production requirements and expectations, ensure areas have the appropriate staff to meet production and ensure that all areas have the raw materials, inventory and supplies needed to meet production requirements
Attend and lead morning huddles as required to ensure optimal communication to employees regarding performance to production requirements, 6S, safety, and company performance, issues, action plans and policies
Check cell boards and departmental boards to ensure they are up to date and accurate. Attend the daily management meeting and lead when the supervisor is not present
Continually communicate with cell team members regarding any issues or problems they may encounter that keeps them from meeting productivity goals. Take appropriate actions to ensure that any barriers to flow are eliminated. Direct others if necessary to eliminate the barrier
Investigate root cause of safety, productivity, quality and downtime issues. Propose solutions and implement or assist with implementation and perform checks, checklists and audits required per standard work
Prepares and delivers presentations to management to report out on departmental performance or departmental scrap
Capable of perceiving problems as they develop and communicating such to their individual supervisor
Demonstrate job duties to workers and observe the performance of workers in the production team to ensure compliance with procedures and safety regulations
As a Team Leader, it encourages all members of the production team to stay on task and remain at their workstation, motivate workers within the team to perform to the best of their abilities. Assign individuals to specific job tasks and work to bring teams to consensus on issues and problems
Keep supervisor informed of any issues/problems, suggest and implement cost-savings ideas, accomplish all tasks as appropriately assigned, maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 6S protocol
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of working within a Casting environment and understanding related processes
General knowledge of the area and operations within the dept
Ability to motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule, ability to gain the respect of those you lead
Excellent problem-solving skills
Good oral and written communication
Basic math skills
Good organizational skills
Basic understanding of computers, Mercury and Microsoft Office programs
Must be able to read and interpret engineering specifications and practices
Understanding of lean manufacturing (OpEx) and the ability to implement improvements
A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent
Experience in Alloy Casting manufacturing environment
Must be able to endure extended periods on feet, and safely lift up to 30 lbs
Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
