Loss Mitigation Manager
LHH is working with one of New York's largest credit unions to find a Loss Mitigation Manager to oversee mortgage collections and foreclosure loss mitigation activities across all real estate loan accounts. This role is pivotal in shaping short- and long-term strategies, driving operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end loss mitigation process for delinquent mortgage loans, including repayment plans, loan modifications, short sales, deeds-in-lieu, foreclosures, and REOs
Oversee foreclosure processes from referral through completion, ensuring adherence to state-specific laws
Manage REO inventory, including property preservation, valuation, marketing, and liquidation to minimize loss severity
Maintain audit-ready files and oversee quality control reviews
Direct and manage performance of foreclosure attorneys, trustees, vendors, and real estate agents
Negotiate and enforce service-level agreements for accuracy, timelines, and cost-effectiveness
Supervise and develop a team of specialists and processors, setting goals and providing coaching
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of leadership experience in mortgage default servicing operations (Collections, Foreclosure, Loss Mitigation)
Expert knowledge of OCC, CFPB, FDCPA, RESPA, and state servicing guidelines
Background in NYS foreclosure and REO regulations that can lead the residential delinquency team
Experience handling collections strategies, vendor management, hardship applications, and foreclosure escalations
