Responsibilities
Assisting with facilitating daily program activities, including workshops, literacy enrichment, social emotional learning, homework and academic support, college and career preparation at Freedom MS or Clarkston HS after school locations
Assisting with student supervision for daily program activities and field trips
Supporting staff to recruit after school and summer camp students
Supporting staff with case management, including conducting student check-ins, and assisting students with homework and college preparation
Providing general administrative support as needed, such as documentation and file maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Strong desire to support refugee and immigrant students and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting
Strong communication abilities
Fluent in English, both spoken and written
Excellent organizational skills
An interest in social justice, education, and refugee issues
Computer literacy, preferably with PC systems
Comfortable accompanying youth program staff on home visits
The ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
Valid driver's license and access to a personal, insured vehicle
Preferred
Relevant professional experience in education or human services field preferred
Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred
Experience working with youth (specifically in a tutoring capacity) preferred
Proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired
