Process Utilities Engineer Intern (Denver, Summer 2026)

CRB is an AEC firm specializing in life sciences and food and beverage industries. They are seeking a Process Utilities Engineer Intern to work on real-world projects, focusing on the design and engineering of critical utility equipment and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement project deliverables under the direction of an assigned mentor
Execute engineering calculations including heat transfer and hydraulic pressure drop calculations
Assist with the development of conceptual designs and coordinate with the design team under direction of the project team lead
Create Block & Process Flow Diagrams, User Requirements Specifications, Equipment List, Equipment General Arrangements, Equipment Datasheets, Utility Summary, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
Coordinate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external team members (e.g., vendors, clients, and contractors)

Required

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, BioProcess Engineering or Architectural Engineering
Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
Interest in the Food & Beverage or Life Sciences industry strongly preferred
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights
Must be willing to communicate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and other internal and external stakeholders (vendors, clients and contractors)
Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering applications

Preferred

Working towards Fundamental of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred
Familiarity with Engineering Software Application including computer aided drafting, process modeling and calculations programs
Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards within the AEC industry
Prior internship or co-op experience in Mechanical Engineering, Process Utilities Engineering or related field
