They are seeking an Engineering Technician with a focus on Extrusion and Materials to support research and development processes, ensuring the operation and maintenance of extrusion lines and conducting materials testing.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring and tear down of extrusion line for wire and cable and medical extrusion processes

Maintains accurate documentation of repairs, maintenance schedules, extrusion run logs of the extrusion line and analytical equipment of the team

Supports the Advanced Materials Engineers during the implementation and validation of new materials, extrusion processes, screening of new pieces of equipment and continuous improvement initiatives

Supports raw material testing by performing sample preparation, measurements, and analysis as necessary (thermal analysis, rheology and mechanical testing)

Plans, executes, and reports results of product level test and measurement methods

Ensure safety protocols are followed during testing and laboratory activity

Responsible for keeping the work area, machines, and tooling inventory clean and organized

Required

Associates degree with 5+ years of relevant experience on wire & cable and/or catheter/medical device extrusion

Strong knowledge of extrusion raw materials, including polyolefins and fluoropolymers

Proficiency with extrusion auxiliary equipment such as pay-off, take-up, measuring devices, vacuum sizer/calibrators, pullers, melt pumps

Experience with disassembling and cleaning extrusion equipment and extrusion die

Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively

Ability and desire to be 'hands on'

Competency in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Preferred

Knowledge of polymer characterization including mechanical, thermal and rheology
