Environmental Health & Safety Engineer
AESC US LLC is a global leader in battery technology, seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols within their manufacturing operations. The EHS Engineer will develop and implement safety procedures, maintain compliance records, and conduct audits to ensure a safe working environment at their Florence, SC facility.

Responsibilities
Support the Development, Implementation, and Execution of MDS safety policies, requirements, and programs
Maintain Safety Records
Review documents to verify compliance with Safety Policies and requirements
Maintain Hazard Tracking System data
Support System Safety Risk Identification and Management Processes
Evaluate Safety documentation, system design, and baseline changes
Review Program-level system safety assessment reports for completeness, technical accuracy and assessment of safety risk
Review verification evidence and provide an assessment of whether safety specifications, hazard mitigations, and requirements are met
Conduct Program Reviews and Meetings
Attend and support system-level design reviews and assessing changes throughout the life cycle of the Programs/Project
Support design and test reviews, change and failure review boards, and technical interchange meetings to identify and characterize risks
Support milestone reviews including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR)
Assist in the tracking and closure of safety-related action items assigned during program reviews/meetings
Conduct Safety Audits and report deficiencies identified in the audits related to the implementation of and compliance with safety policies
Perform safety audit follow-ups, track findings, and verify closure within the guidelines identified
Participate in the development and review of safety risk assessments and other safety analysis and assist in obtaining approval from the appropriate authority
Develop work instructions related to EHS
Support Safe Conduct System Demonstration Activities
Evaluate mission-specific safety risks, particularly for the interaction of the test event with other systems
Assess test architecture for safety concerns and review test plans and procedures for safety concerns
Support the development of Final Hazard Classification (FHC) detailed plans
Participate in pre-test reviews, such as Test Planning Reviews (TPRs)
Participate in daily status briefings
Participate in Failure Reviews and Mishap Investigations
Develop and publish Hazard Classification Documentation
Complete Department of Transportation documentation in accordance with Federal Regulations
Complete other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, industrial technology, or a related field
5 years of related experience at a professional level is required
Working knowledge of Statistics and related Improvement Processes
Ability to identify unsafe situations or potentially unsafe safety laws
Strong knowledge of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
Knowledge of PSM (Process Safety) and RMP (Risk Management) processes
Effective Problem-Solving/Root Cause Analysis
Ability to work cross-functionally with staff in all departments
Experience working and leading a team across cultural and discipline boundaries
Experience or willingness to work in a global context, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with operating in diverse international markets
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business needs and priorities
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications and conferencing systems
Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
Preferred
Certified Safety Professional status
Knowledge of battery manufacturing, EV manufacturing, or refinery operations
Automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience
New model experience and equipment design, installation, and commissioning
Previous EHS experience in a battery manufacturing facility is highly preferred
High-volume manufacturing environment experience
Start-up experience
