Postdoctoral Fellow, Anesthesiology
The University of Texas Medical Branch is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology. The role involves conducting research on acute lung dysfunction and injury, utilizing advanced imaging techniques, and contributing to the academic field of lung functional imaging.
Responsibilities
Conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor
Contribute to research focused on understanding the early determinants of acute lung dysfunction and injury
Utilize advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) techniques
Pursue an independent academic career in lung functional imaging, involving both animal and human studies, and the acquisition of physiological measurements during experiments
Qualification
Required
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field
Scientific research experience
Preferred
Background in engineering, physics, or other quantitative sciences
Advanced knowledge in signal processing, image processing and analysis, including the use of AI techniques, numerical analysis, image registration, mathematical modeling, and tracer kinetics
Creative and systematic approach to complex problem-solving
Ability to work both independently and within a team
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, and LabView
Experience in animal or human research, including clinical studies
Knowledge of respiratory pathophysiology
