Volunteer Development Specialist

Girl Scouts of Central Texas is dedicated to empowering young girls through volunteerism and community engagement. The Volunteer Development Specialist is responsible for planning and executing adult development opportunities, including volunteer training and recognition programs, while ensuring that resources meet the needs of volunteers at all levels.

Responsibilities

Plans and manages volunteer event logistics and materials contributing to the development, recognition, and enrichment of volunteers
Assists with updates for volunteer manuals, guides, newsletters, position descriptions, and webpages
Works with Membership Strategy Director to manage key volunteer conflict resources and maintain relevant documentation of resolved conflicts
Moderates the GSCTX private Facebook groups for volunteers
Oversees the volunteer recognition program and manages the council volunteer awards committee
Processes all service unit, council, national, and years of service awards and manages the documentation of these achievements within Volunteer Systems
Manages volunteer recognition ceremony at annual volunteer enrichment conference
Updates forms, processes, and administrative procedures of volunteer recognition
Provides a progressive in-person outdoor training experience for Girl Scouts of Central Texas volunteers
Updates forms, processes, and administrative procedures of the volunteer outdoor training program
Manages the documentation of training completions within designated council systems
Assists with updates for volunteer manuals, guides, position descriptions, and webpages
Maintains outdoor training equipment necessary to implement training by staff and volunteer facilitators
Oversees scheduling and coordination of volunteer facilitator-led outdoor trainings
Provides support, communication, and direction to volunteer facilitators
Provides training for members desiring to become a volunteer facilitator of outdoor trainings
Assists with updates for facilitator manuals, guides, position descriptions, and forms
Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including staff, donors, members, adult volunteers, as well as corporate and community partners
Fosters positive collaboration with other departments/teams to best support mission goals and objectives
Effectively and intentionally communicates ideas and information to internal and external customers in a variety of outlets and formats, including emails, texts, website, social media, reports, presentations, training opportunities, and meetings

Required

Strong interpersonal skills, including a natural curiosity and openness about other perspectives and an ability to be diplomatic and professional when interacting with a wide variety of people and sensitive situations
Ability to work effectively cross-departmentally, cultivating a culture of collaboration, and demonstrating respect for cross-departmental processes, staffing, and expertise
Effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and promote an environment of inclusivity
Ability to positively influence others and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to critically assess current processes and suggest improvements
Strong written and oral communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook or similar productivity software
Ability to make a commitment to the philosophy of Girl Scouting, both nationally and locally
Capable of maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information
Yearly membership in GSUSA is required
Maintains a valid TX driver's license, an acceptable driving record, acceptable vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation to travel within Girls Scouts of Central Texas service area
Satisfactory results from a criminal background check
Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job or an acceptable combination of education and experience to meet job qualifications

Preferred

Experience with CRM software tools (e.g., Salesforce), data warehouse tools (e.g., Looker), and task management software (e.g., Asana)
Non-profit experience
Bilingual in English/Spanish
