Access Control Technician

The Access Control Technician will perform installation, service, and repairs of access control systems, ensuring compliance with standards and customer expectations.
Public Safety
Responsibilities
Perform installation, service, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair activities on access control boards, card-swipe equipment, alarm devices, door alarms, locks, video surveillance systems, access control systems, intrusion alarm systems, and network infrastructure
Read blueprints, programming documentation, and wiring diagrams
Terminate and understand composite cable, cat5e, cat6, cat6a cabling, and fiber optics cabling
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve low voltage electrical, cable, computer hardware, and software problems
Basic programming of Access Control Systems, including intrusion alarm equipment, CCTV equipment, Access control equipment, and life safety equipment
Complete cable installation, device terminations including Strikes, Card readers, Maglocks, Motion Detectors, etc
Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually
Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job
Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that customer may require
Work in compliance with the Company's safety program
Perform on-site and/or off-site (phone) emergency troubleshooting of Access Control and CCTV systems
Discuss deficiencies noted with customer, explaining the problem and its resolution
There may be situations which require work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays. For some locations, these demands will be more frequent or required than others. Discuss this with your manager
Must be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces
Qualification
Required
3+ years previous low voltage experience as security installer in video, intrusion, and access control
Demonstrated ability to install access control hardware and program access control panels
Must have working knowledge of security technology, tools, and installation techniques
Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and solve problems effectively
Must possess the ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages
Must possess the knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple IOS, Android and Outlook. In addition, required to learn and use industry specific devices and software
Must currently have a valid U.S. driver's license
Preferred
5+ years previous low voltage experience as security installer in video, intrusion, and access control
Experience with Honeywell Winpak, ProWatch and Identiv (Access Control), Hanwha, Bosch and Milestone (CCTV) are a plus
