Receipt Inspector (QPA Specialist 1)
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security. They are seeking an entry-level Receipt Inspector (QPA Specialist 1) to ensure product quality through receipt inspections, planning, performing, and reporting results in compliance with technical and quality requirements. The role also involves providing assistance on quality assurance issues and supporting supply chain quality programs.
Responsibilities
Ensure product quality through performance of receipt inspections
Planning, performing, and reporting/presenting of results
Providing assistance to LANL customer organizations on quality assurance issues and activities
Supporting the supply chain quality programs e.g., receipt inspection, suspect/counterfeit, and supplier evaluation
Qualification
Required
Basic knowledge and experience of 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1D, national consensus standard ASME NQA-1-2008/ASME NQA-1a-2009 Addenda, NAP-401.1, and U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent
Basic knowledge and experience with quality concepts and principles and how these are applied
Experience with inspection principles and practices
Experience in performing detailed reviews of quality documentation to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory defined requirements
Strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrated experience interacting and effectively communicating with all levels of customers and management
Experience in preparing and presenting quality assurance reports
Experienced in effective decision-making and risk management regarding complex technical issues
Position requires an Associate's Degree in a relevant field or combination of technical certification and 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
This position requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, bending, twisting, kneeling, working on your feet, working outdoors, working in a warehouse environment, working in radiation buffer areas, and ability to perform visual inspections using corrected or non-corrected vision
Working in a noisy environment; Work near sources of ionizing/non-ionizing radiation
Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory

Occasional travel may be required to perform receipt inspection duties
Due to federal restrictions contained in the current National Defense Authorization Act, citizens of the People's Republic of China-including the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau-as well as citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), and the Russian Federation, who are not Lawful Permanent Residents ('green card' holders) are prohibited from accessing facilities that support the mission, functions, and operations of national security laboratories and nuclear weapons production facilities, which includes Los Alamos National Laboratory
This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances
To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances
The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing
Preferred
Experience in the preparation of QA procedures for review, approval, and issues in accordance with requirements and/or standards
Previous experience as a qualified receipt inspector
Experience leading and supporting quality assessments, surveillances, and/or audits
