Experience with all aspects of state and federal education litigation and administrative proceedings
Defending constitutional claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against governmental entities and governmental officials
Familiarity with immunity defenses, such as qualified immunity and Eleventh Amendment immunity
Handling substantive claims that involve free speech, freedom of religion, due process, sex discrimination and harassment, race discrimination and harassment, and disability discrimination
Qualification
Required
experience with all aspects of state and federal education litigation and administrative proceedings
experience defending constitutional claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 against governmental entities and governmental officials
familiarity with immunity defenses, such as qualified immunity and Eleventh Amendment immunity
excellent academic credentials
strong writing skills
commitment to the higher education industry
superior interpersonal skills
demonstrated record of working well under pressure
exceptional judgment
ability to effectively handle multiple projects
excellent communication abilities
ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action
active Missouri and Kansas bar license or commit to obtaining both as soon as possible
Preferred
three to five years of experience, including federal judicial clerkship experience
experience handling substantive claims that involve free speech, freedom of religion, due process, sex discrimination and harassment, race discrimination and harassment, and disability discrimination
