Responsibilities

Designs, implements, assesses, and analyzes preventative workplace wellness activities, campaigns, events, and programs for the County of Alameda (County) employees
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the County’s Wellness Program
Engages in a variety of technical and analytical work involved in administering complex benefit programs and/or manage the County’s Wellness Program

Required

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, health science, health education, or a closely related field
The equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience managing an employee wellness or preventative health education program
Knowledge of current industry standards and trend in worksite wellness
Knowledge of health and wellness, medical terminology, effective management and personnel supervision, and working with wellness plans and programs
Ability to effectively develop, manage, coordinate, and evaluate wellness programs
Ability to communicate clearly both written and oral formats, preparing accurate reports, policies, and correspondence while effectively presenting information to leadership, staff, and community partners
Ability to exercise political astuteness and interpersonal sensitivity in navigating complex organizational and community environments, promoting collaboration, and maintaining productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to incorporate ethical and culturally responsive practices into all aspects of program management, ensuring inclusive, equitable, and respectful service delivery
Ability to demonstrate flexibility, sound judgment, and composure under pressure, managing multiple and shifting priorities while maintaining focus on long-term strategic goals
Ability to utilize analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and implement innovative solutions to support programs that encourage maintaining and improving health
Commitment to advancing County-wide goals of equity, accountability, through alignment with the County and HRS Department mission and goals
Knowledge of principles of effective management and personnel supervision
Knowledge of principles, practices, and methods used to manage health and wellness programs
Knowledge of health and medical terminology
Knowledge of functions and interrelationships of various health, medical fitness care services, facilities, and strategies
Knowledge of management of a comprehensive Employee Wellness Program
Knowledge of RFPs preparation, contract development, and negotiations
Knowledge of principles and procedures of program development, coordination, implementation and evaluation
Ability to stay current with industry standards and trends in worksite wellness
Ability to implement decisions or recommendations
Ability to interact successfully with personnel at all levels
Ability to draft technical reports
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply pertinent provisions of laws and regulations applicable to assigned benefit and/or wellness programs
Ability to set priorities
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs
Ability to collect, interpret, and evaluate benefit and/or wellness data
Ability to use principles of inductive and deductive reasoning to validate conclusions
Ability to define and select alternatives
