Special Projects Coordinator - Legal Services

The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) is seeking a legal-minded professional to join its Special Projects Team as Special Projects Coordinator. The role involves coordinating and managing special projects related to program compliance, internal process improvement, and legal services.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Assist with the implementation of assigned special projects by acting as a liaison between the executive team and departmental or program leadership, tracking action items and timelines, and conducting research and benchmarking
Assist with communication and workload management of outside counsel
Assist with internal review of contracts agreements between GNRC and external entities
Assist with internal review of procurement practices and documents
Assist with board/committee operations by drafting and reviewing resolutions and other documents, as requested
Provide program staff and subcontractors the necessary training or coaching to ensure comprehension and adherence to relevant policies, laws, statutes, contractual requirements, etc
Stay current on landmark legislation or major policies that govern GNRC or its programs and services
Stay informed of Tennessee statutes and proposed legislation that may affect GNRC or its local government members
Stay informed of proposed federal legislation and rulemaking that may affect GNRC or its local government members
Assist with internal actions related to compliance with public records requests, litigation holds, and non-discrimination complaints

Required

Bachelor's degree in law, paralegal studies, public policy, public administration, political science, or similar fields of study
Excellent critical thinking skills
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent written communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software
A valid driver's license and/or access to personal transportation

Preferred

Graduate degree in law
General knowledge of the functions and operations of a council of governments
Experience with legal research services platforms (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw, etc.)
