Prepares and designs plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients
Ensures documents are in compliance with state and local codes, laws, ordinances and agency requirements
Prepares site plans and authors due diligence studies
Leads efforts in the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications
Makes independent decisions within a general framework
Is active in technical societies
Publishes engineering papers and/or articles
Responsible for projects of varying size and complexity from inception to completion
Works closely with clients
Takes an active role in contract negotiations, project planning, project quality, and project profitability
Oversees project budgets
Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects
Plans, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of project work
Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work
Ensures accurate client billings and monitors outstanding accounts receivable
Provides leadership in proposal preparation, project scoping and estimating project costs
Responsible for maintaining meaningful relationships with clients
Represents Collins in project meetings
Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours
Directs and supervises the work of other engineers, drafters and administrative staff
Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work
Qualification
Required
Experience in highway design and project management
Ability to manage design contracts with MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, or NHDOT
Ability to liaise with clients and government agencies
Ability to direct teams
Experience in preparing and designing plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients
Knowledge of compliance with state and local codes, laws, ordinances and agency requirements
Experience in preparing site plans and authoring due diligence studies
Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
Active participation in technical societies
