Intern - Waterfowl Management (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking a Waterfowl Management Intern for the summer session. The intern will assist with various waterfowl research projects and management activities, requiring a flexible schedule and some travel.

Responsibilities
Assisting with numerous waterfowl research projects and waterfowl management activities in eastern South Dakota
Assist in all aspects of migratory bird management including morning dove, duck, and Canada goose banding
Banding site maintenance
Nest dragging
Waterfowl nesting structure maintenance
GPA habitat management
Data entry
Other assigned duties
Qualification
Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Knowledge of life history and habitat requirements of waterfowl
Techniques used for capturing and banding migratory birds
Ability to operate boats, ATV's, and equipment used to manipulate habitat
Ability to operate global positioning systems
Preferred
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
