Executive Director, Finance and Administration – Newman College

Newman College is a Catholic co-educational residential College affiliated with the University of Melbourne. The Executive Director, Finance and Administration will provide strategic leadership across finance, administration, human resources, compliance, risk management, and infrastructure planning, ensuring operational excellence and upholding the College's mission and values.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across finance, HR, IT, risk management, and compliance
Develop and manage budgets, oversee payroll, and ensure sound financial stewardship
Lead governance processes, prepare materials for the College Council, and monitor regulatory compliance
Support change management initiatives and contribute to organisational effectiveness
Oversee major capital works, heritage conservation, and infrastructure planning
Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive workplace culture, supporting staff development and engagement
Ensure compliance with regulations regarding OHS, privacy, safeguarding, disability and equity
Assist in developing strategies for compliance with the 2026 National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence
Support technology needs and cybersecurity measures
Contribute to College events, community engagement, and advancement initiatives

Required

Senior leadership experience across corporate services functions, ideally in the tertiary or not-for-profit sector
Expertise in finance, HR, governance, compliance, and risk management
Proven ability to manage budgets, optimise resources, and ensure regulatory compliance
Experience in infrastructure planning and major capital works projects
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and foster a values-driven culture
An appreciation of the Catholic Church's educational and social commitments and a willingness to engage with them
Valid working rights in Australia
