Responsibilities
Collaborate with vendors/manufacturers to develop and evaluate new hardware and software solutions and come up with implementation plans for incorporating them into the network
Automate test plans and develop and qualify optical modules and electrical cables
Design and specify structured cabling systems (fiber, copper, cable trays/duct banks) for network layers at hyperscale data centers
Develop standards, reference designs, and installation guidelines for physical network/cabling deployments and structured cabling systems
Focus on ambiguous problem areas in existing or new network architecture and systems development initiatives, propose and deliver projects that have a significant business and/or customer impact
Manage fiber/device vendors and contractors; perform quality control and commissioning of fiber bundles and structured cabling systems
Perform mitigation analysis and site inspections to validate as-built conditions, ensuring compliance with design and operational requirements
Monitor network/system/link quality and build mechanism to remediate large scale events and improve health of our links
Troubleshoot and resolve issues
Maintain documentation, drawings, and asset records for physical network components across global sites
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field - or equivalent experience
3+ years of hands-on experience with optical system and network design OR 7+ years of experience in structured cabling design, deployment, and maintenance for large-scale data centers
3+ years of experience with optical transceivers and IEEE standards
Expertise in industry standards such as ANSI/TIA, BICSI and other relevant structured cabling guidelines
2+ years of experience developing test scripts for optics validation and characterization; Strong skills in reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, cable schedules, and documentation management
Preferred
Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
Master's degree and 3+ years of industry or academic research experience; Certifications such as BICSI, RCDD, etc
Expertise in hardware and systems design and development; Experience with design and manufacturing pluggable optics (i.e SFP, SFP+, QSFP, QSFP-DD, OSFP)
Experience working in hyperscale cloud, AI or high-performance computing environments
Proficiency in 2D/3D engineering tools (e.g. CAD, Revit) for design and clash detection
Experience working with ODM and CM suppliers of Optical Modules
