Instructional Design Specialist

Firstsource is seeking a Junior Content & Instructional Design Support Specialist to provide execution-focused instructional support. This role involves course replication, light content updates, and basic course design tasks within the LMS, working under the direction of the university’s in-house Instructional Design team.

Responsibilities

Import content from past courses into DEV shells as directed
Replicate approved course structures and content across multiple sections or future course shells
Perform light instructional updates in DEV shells, including:
Adjusting module sequencing based on provided guidance
Updating instructions, labels, and descriptions
Swapping or updating learning materials provided by the ID team
Support basic course design tasks using existing templates and standards
Export completed DEV shell content into future course shells following defined workflows
Validate that the course structure, content flow, and links function correctly after updates
Work with future course shells and comply with access timelines and FERPA requirements
Apply established instructional design standards and templates
Ensure alignment between learning objectives, activities, and assessments where clearly defined
Flag design or alignment issues for review by senior or in-house IDs
Incorporate feedback from ID reviews into course revisions

Required

2–4 years of experience supporting online courses or instructional design operations
Hands-on experience with Canvas course imports, copying, and DEV shell workflows
Familiarity with basic instructional design concepts and terminology
Strong attention to detail and ability to work from templates and standards
Comfort working in future course shells with defined access controls

Preferred

Exposure to course design or instructional design projects in higher education
Basic awareness of accessibility and FERPA requirements
Experience supporting multi-section or multi-term course builds
