Utility Systems Repairer-Operator

Responsibilities
Maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair various utility systems including electrical, plumbing, wastewater, and water treatment
Safely operate motor vehicles to transport materials and equipment
Diagnose and repair electrical equipment, plumbing systems, and treatment plant operations, ensuring compliance with Federal, state, and local regulations
Operate and monitor utility systems to ensure optimal performance, including making necessary adjustments and performing routine maintenance
Follow prescribed safety practices and use appropriate safety equipment to ensure a safe working environment, while ensuring all operations comply with relevant regulations and policies

Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication
Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
DIRECT DEPOSIT: Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program
DRIVER'S LICENSE: You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required
You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record
You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you
UNIFORM: You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards
A uniform allowance will be provided
WORK SCHEDULE: You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period
UTAH CERTIFIED WATER OPERATOR-DISTRIBUTION LEVEL-2: Must successfully obtain and maintain certification within one year of onboard date
UTAH CERTIFIED WASTEWATER OPERATOR-COLLECTION SYSTEM GRADE 2: Must successfully obtain and maintain certification within one year of onboard date
Applicants must be at least 18 years old
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT): WG-9: Utility Systems Repairer-Operator at this level must demonstrate the following skills: Operate, maintain, and monitor a water treatment system; Inspect, activate, deactivate, maintain, and repair a potable water distribution system; Ensure water meets the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and State Department of Public Health and Environment standards to include testing, adjusting and using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems; and/or Repair and maintain all facets of a potable water treatment facility including repair work on plumbing fixtures, service lines, and valves
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Use of Measuring Instruments
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment

Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.
