Electrical Engineering Intern (Power Generation) - Summer 2026

WSP is seeking an electrical engineering student for a full-time internship in their Generation Electrical Department over the Summer of 2026. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in power generation design while supporting various engineering tasks under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills
Learn basic principles of Power Generation Electrical Design
Experience gained here will also apply to other industrial and power engineering settings.Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis
Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates
Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation
Complete training on assigned tasks
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Required

Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later
Must be 18 or older
Demonstrated interest in consulting engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship

Preferred

Successful completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection
Prior internship and/or related engineering experience is a plus
Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as AUTOCAD, etc. as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial
A Power EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certificate
