Distribution Engineer- Experienced Professional
WSP is one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms, currently seeking an experienced Distribution Engineer for their Fort Lauderdale office. The role involves providing technical assistance for various utility projects, including the design and construction of power distribution systems, while ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities
Collect, compile, and analyze data relating to substation components, equipment specifications for procurement package development and pricing, IFR/IRC design and review processes, and IEEE/NESC Standards/NERC regulations for design work
Design and deliver overhead and underground electric distribution projects (4 kV-35 kV), acting as the technical lead on medium-complexity work packages
Provide engineering calculations, construction packages, and field support while coordinating with project managers, drafters, and client utilities
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Qualification
Required
BSEE (or equivalent experience)
Solid understanding of OH and UG distribution design
CAD Software Experience
3+ years in distribution engineering
Strong background in both overhead (OH) and underground (UG) distribution design
Proven ability to independently handle feeder-level OH and UG projects from scoping through Issued-for-Construction (IFC) with minimal oversight
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred
EIT or PE (or progress toward)
Utility standards experience (e.g., Duke, FPL, PG&E, TECO)
