Responsibilities

Serves as a member of hazardous material emergency response team and structural or crash firefighting crew
As a member of an emergency response team uses detection, identification, and monitoring equipment to identify hazardous products
Performs or assists in administration of first aid to injured victims
Uses patch, seal, and leak kits or other specialized equipment to contain hazardous substance releases, protect lives and conserve property

Required

Must be certified within the DoD Fire and Emergency Services Fire Fighter Certification system at HAZMAT Technician, Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, Driver Operator - Pumper, Driver Operator - Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF), Emergency Medical Technician
Must lift up to 45 lbs
Must climb ladders up to 100 feet
Must climb in and over obstacles
Must move charged fire hose lines in the regular performance of duties
Must obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
Must wear prescribed uniform and/or personal protective equipment while on duty
Must participate in a cardiovascular physical fitness program
Must work 106 hours or a 144 hours bi-weekly tour of duty
Must work rotating shifts
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation
Incumbent requires successfully complete physical examination
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
This position is a designated Mission Essential position
This position requires random drug testing
