Geotechnical Engineering Intern
ENGEO is an employee-owned firm specializing in geotechnical and civil engineering. The Geotechnical Engineering Intern will assist with field investigations, office design and analysis tasks, and gain hands-on experience in laboratory testing, all while being supported by experienced mentors.

Responsibilities
Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing
Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction
Understand how geotechnical recommendations and designs are implemented
Gain experience working on large-scale construction projects
Become certified to operate a nuclear gauge through onsite training
Depending on knowledge base, assist technical staff in a variety of roles
Drafting, calculations, cross-sections, developing lab programs, boring logs, report preparation
As appropriate, client engagements and meetings
Assist with laboratory tests, including: Compaction curves, Cylinders, Atterberg limits, Gradation
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a university program related to Geotechnical Engineering or a related field
Ability to assist with the planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing
Ability to observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction
Understanding of how geotechnical recommendations and designs are implemented
Willingness to gain experience working on large-scale construction projects
Ability to become certified to operate a nuclear gauge through onsite training
Ability to synthesize knowledge of construction materials on 'micro' and 'macro' scale into engineering analysis and design
Depending on knowledge base, ability to assist technical staff in a variety of roles including drafting, calculations, cross-sections, developing lab programs, boring logs, and report preparation
Willingness to engage in client engagements and meetings as appropriate
Ability to expand understanding of construction materials properties and increase familiarity with standard testing procedures
Ability to assist with laboratory tests, including compaction curves, cylinders, Atterberg limits, and gradation
