Pesticide Inspector I
The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is dedicated to promoting and improving agriculture and protecting consumers. The Pesticide Inspector I role involves enforcing pesticide regulations, conducting inspections, and ensuring public health and safety regarding pesticide use.

Responsibilities
Conducting inspections at pesticide dealers
Performing alleged misuse investigations
Emergency response to pesticide incidents
Administering pesticide license exams
Conducting marketplace inspections on misbranded products
Pesticide formulation sampling
Conducting outreach to the regulated public
Inspecting pesticide application equipment
Qualification
Required
Experience in pesticide use in agricultural production, landscaping, or other areas
Ability to convey and/or interpret any policies, laws, and/or regulations
Must be able to meet and address the public utilizing excellent verbal and presentation skills
Must be able to compose free-style written reports in a clear and concise manner
Basic experience with Microsoft Office
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, entomology, pest management, horticulture, plant pathology or a closely related biological science from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must possess and maintain a valid NC Driver's License
Must pass an employment physical to confirm the ability to wear a respirator within 1 year from the hire date
Applicant must reside in one of the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Hoke, New Hanover, Pender, Robeson, Scotland, or a surrounding county
